Silk Mark Organisation Of India  

Silk Mark Organisation Of India (SMOI) is a registered Society under Karnataka Society’s Act 1960 with Registration No.1054 / 2003-2004 dated 19/01/2004 . SMOI is sponsored by Central Silk Board(CSB), Ministry of Textiles, Government of India. 

SMOI has Competent Textile Technologists, who are well experienced in Silk Industry and Trade. SMOI Corporate Office is headquartered in Bangalore and has ten Silk Mark Offices across the country.

 

Members Category 

 

There are four categories of members of SMOI which are briefly discussed here.

Permanent Member

Permanent members are the representatives from Govt of India , Central Silk Board, ISEPC and other State Govt. Agencies. These members are not liable to retire by rotation and they assume the membership by virtue of their position in their respective Departments, Board and Govt. Agency. They have full voting rights and are exempted from the payment of Membership Fee. 

List of Permanent members of SMOI 
 
1. Chairman (Member Secretary, Central Silk Board is ex-office chairman)
2. Chief executive of SMOI (nominee of Central Silk Board)
3. Nominee of Central Silk Board (not below the rank of director)
4. Executive Director, ISEPC, Mumbai
5. Representative of KSIC Ltd., Bangalore (not below the level of General Manager)
6. Representative of CO-Optex, Tamilnadu (not below the level of General Manager)
7. Director of Sericulture, Assam

Special Member 

The State Apex Co-operatives, Government Departments, Government sponsored Societies and Corporate Bodies are eligible to become Special Members with full voting power. 


Ordinary Member
 

The ordinary membership is open to the other institutions, firms, sole proprietorship companies and individuals. Members have voting right and eligible to elect 4 members to the Management Committee. 

Associate Member
 
Associate membership can only have access to the benefits and services offered by SMOI. They do not have voting right and have no representation in the Managing Committee.
